WITTENBERG, Germany -- I flew into Germany this morning and met up with the guys to ski indoor slalom. The course here isn't very steep or very long but the snow is good and everything is very controlled so you can get in a bunch of runs very quickly. That's good for us right now. I felt a little off balance but I made some good turns. It was my first day back after about a week off. It can be tough skiing right off the plane -- your knees and feet puff all up. We're going to stay here for a few days then probably head to Austria for outdoor training.
I think I'll be fine for Levi. I'm not overly concerned about it. I felt really good in Saas Fee before I had a break. Tim Jitloff was skiing pretty fast -- he does really well there. I was right there with the other guys. It would be nice to have some more time, but that's going to kind of be the theme for the first half of this year and I'm just going to have to push through it.
Last year, I was second at Levi so that was kind of a cool way to start the slalom season. I've never had such a short prep period so my expectations aren't as high as they normally are. Normally, it's not that I expect a certain result in the beginning, but I do expect a high level of performance and a high level of attempt. I'll still try to do everything I can but you can be quite a bit more forgiving of yourself when you haven't had the preparation.
