It would have been perfect had we raced last week. There hasn't been any snow for a while and the course was great when we arrived. The snow was fast and the course ran perfectly. Then the snow and the fog came in. We did qualifying in rain, snow, and fog. It changed the course and weird results came out of the qualifier. There was about 10 seconds separating the top 24. I was about 4 seconds out, which just doesn't happen. The Canadians nailed it and locked up three of the top four. The Swedes were pretty good too. I was thirteenth, Daron was 6th, and Jake was 16th. Luckily the start is wide open and I don't know that gate pick will make a huge difference. Hopefully we will nail the wax.
Watch for the Canadians to be tough tomorrow along with a number of the usual suspects, including Tomas Kraus, Lars Lewen, Daron Rahlves, Andreas Matt, and myself. I'm looking to make it 3 gold medals tomorrow. Hopefully the waxing gods will be on my side and I'll get a little Aspen luck too. I'll let you know how it goes.
