The X Games were a bust! When we arrived the course ran perfectly. The sun was out, the snow was fast, and life was good. Then came the weather. We got rain, fog, enormous flakes of snow, and our ski cross course turned into a Nordic track. There wasn't enough speed to make any of the jumps work and it just didn't look anything like ski cross.Â
Unfortunately these types of conditions put a premium on fast skis. If you didn't have the right skis then you just didn't have a chance. For whatever reason, my skis weren't gliding like I needed them to and I was unable to make it past the first round. It was very strange. I have been in numerous X Games finals with Lars Lewen, and this year we both got knocked out in the first round. It just didn't make sense.Â
Oh well. Learn from the past, let go of the past, focus on the future, and live in the now. The next race on the schedule is the Pre-Olympic World Cup in Cypress, Canada. It will be great to check out next year's Olympic course.
