Alpine skier Resi Stiegler blogs about her adventures on the FIS World Cup circuit.
As I stand on the cliff looking over the ocean, the sea breeze whips wind across my face from a far away land. It all feels fine to me. I lay in the sun and relax, feeling the energy the sun is passing through me. I am healing. I only have a few more weeks before I can begin to learn how to walk again. I need to take this time to rest. I know the next steps will be hard, pushing my body to work and to train it to function how I want it to. I have so much time before I ski again before I race again but then again time flies by. It will be a new winter before you know it. A new season, a new year. I am excited for the next steps in my life, I feel like it's time to take hold of it and turn it into what I want it to be. But for right now, it's time to lay in the sun and heal.
Enjoy the new year, let the old wash away. Let the new bring joy, start something new, don't be afraid of your ideas and your passions because that is the backbone to your life. You only have one so live it like you want it! And always remember to smile! Happy New Year!
