Alpine skier Scott Macartney blogs about life on the slopes for UniversalSports.com.
Things are really ramping up for me right now. I am headed to Colorado on the 8th to train at Copper, then the first race at Lake Louise is just around the corner! I have been spending time in the gym and working on my house. I am trying to get a few things nailed down before the season gets going including finishing the entry way in my house. A relatively small project, but they always seem to take twice the time you have planned.
On a more exciting front, I have been getting some good publicity lately.
There is a big piece in Outside magazine this month on me. The author Jen was in Chile with us last summer (2008) writing this story, did what seemed like a dozen follow up interviews over the next year, talked to a ton of my friends, family, coaches and psychologists on the story. It is finally out. I read it today and I am curious to see what other people think who have read it. It isn't a normal sports story and has a different feel to it.
Additionally, I am all over the media in Washington. The "Comcast Local Heroes" campaign is in full force and I am on Billboards across the Seattle area, in ads in your junk mail and on TV adds for Comcast service. I honestly had no idea that it was going to be this big. It has provided some good fodder for my friends to give me a hard time, which is to be expected I guess. It is a really cool program.
Looking forward to getting on the slopes soon!
