Alpine skier Scott Macartney blogs about life on the slopes for UniversalSports.com.
Well, not too much to report from Val d'Isere. I ended up taking the Super-G off because I was nursing a sore back. I was dealing with it through Beaver Creek and tried to ski through it. I ended up not being able to move that well and went out half way down the pitch.
Between the flight from Denver to Munich and the 10 hour drive to Val d'Isere in France, my back was not in the right shape to tackle the piste there. That course was tough, claiming the majority of the US team and a good chunk of the field as well.
Glad to say that here in Val Gardena, my back is feeling much better and I did the first training run with no problems. Looking forward to both the DH and SG so stay tuned… it is one of my favorite stops on tour!
