Rochette delights home crowd
Canadian figure skater Joannie Rochette skated to a personal best in the ladies short program to take the lead at Skate Canada on Friday. The world silver medalist gasped when she saw her marks, which put her well in front of Americans Alissa Czisny and Mirai Nagasu. Skate Canada: What to expect
The last event of the Grand Prix series comes to Canada this weekend. Skate Canada will determine who advances to December's Grand Prix Final in Tokyo. It also features the return of world silver medalist Patrick Chan, redemption opportunities for several skaters, and three American ladies trying to catch up.
Cohen confident about U.S. return
Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen said she is confident she will be ready to compete at January's U.S. nationals for a berth in the Vancouver Games despite a calf injury that has marred her preparation. The 25-year-old, who has not competed since March 2006, said it was smart to take time out to heal.
Skate America: What we learned
Kim Yu-Na was in an unfamiliar position at Skate America, struggling, but she still won, and remains the favorite for Olympic gold. Also, Evan Lysacek's pursuit of perfection continues, Rachael Flatt is a U.S. frontrunner, and Shen and Zhao are more than sentimental favorites.
