Strained relationship fails to slow Vonn
The Vancouver Olympics are shaping up to be Lindsey Vonn’s shining moment, the apex of a career that began years ago when her father introduced her to skiing. But Alan Kildow had a falling out with his daughter two years ago, and will have to watch on TV, not in person, when Vonn competes as perhaps the biggest U.S. star of the Games.
'Austrian Rocket' set for Vancover blast-off
In Austria, where the success of its alpine ski racers somehow determines the mood of winter, this one has fallen bellow expectations. While the retirement of the great Hermann Maier has cast a long shadow, a bright new star has emerged in 20-year-old Marcel Hirscher, whose recent World Cup tear could be a harbinger of Olympic success in Vancouver.

Reutter comfortable being top U.S. hopeful
As a little girl, Katherine Reutter would lace up her figure skates and gracefully hit the ice. Now, the 21-year-old is representing the U.S. in a different sport: short track. "I always wanted to go fast," she said recently. The last American woman to win a short track Olympic medal was Cathy Turner in 1994; Reutter hopes to end the drought.
Trotter: Doping has made relays risky business
Crystal Cox's admission to doping will also impact her teammates on the Athens Olympic 4x400m relay, who may now have their gold medals stripped as a result of her cheating. One of those athletes, Dee Dee Trotter, has been an outspoken advocate for ridding track & field of dopers and spoke exclusively to Universal Sports about the controversy.
