Hat-trick, but no record, for Geb in Dubai
Haile Gebrselassie completed a hat-trick of Dubai Marathon victories on Friday but the Ethiopian's hopes of setting a new world record were dashed by a bad back.The 36-year-old champion crossed the finish line in a time of 2:06:09, 14 seconds ahead of Kenya's Chala Dechase Beyene but more than two minutes slower than his record time.
Marathon on hold while Flanagan crosses over
It was widely assumed that Shalane Flanagan's half-marathon debut in Houston would be a prelude to her running a spring marathon. But Flanagan has told Universal Sports that her marathon debut will likely come in the fall after she competes during cross-country and outdoors. Also, Haile Gebrselassie will headline the NYC Half-Marathon March 21.
Geb still means business when running
Twenty-one years after his first professional race, Ethiopian running great spends a great deal of his day managing his burgeoning business empire. But don't let the suit and tie fool you. He is still quite invested in his marathon career and his assault on the record books. He will take another crack at the world record Friday at the Dubai Marathon.
Ndiso, Urgesa take Mumbai titles
Running on a new course and in relatively hot conditions, newcomers Denis Ndiso of Kenya and Bizunesh Urgesa of Ethiopia surged as the returning champions and favorites crumbled, winning the men's and women's titles respectively at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon.

Running with a greater purpose
As Ryan Hall prepared to run in the ING New York City Marathon, he was asked whether he can take American distance running to the next level by beating the dominant East Africans. Hall not only aspires to supplant his foreign rivals on the podium but wants to become more like them off the roads.
