German world champs win Skate Canada pairs

Reigning two-time world pairs champions Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy skated to gold at Skate Canada on Saturday with a brand new program set to the film soundtrack Out of Africa.

KITCHENER, Canada -- Reigning two-time world pairs champions Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy easily won gold at Skate Canada on Saturday with a brand new program set to the film soundtrack Out of Africa.

The Germans scored 132.55 for the near flawless performance and earned 206.71 points in all.

Russia's Maria Mukhortova and Maxim Trankov took silver with their Love Story program with 185.71.

Canadians Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison settled for bronze with 166.93 for their program set to The Way We Were.
