Amelie Kober of Germany and Andreas Prommegger of Austria won the season's sixth parallel giant slalom World Cup event held Saturday in Sudelfeld, Germany. It was the last snowboarding competition before the 2010 Olympics
Kober defeated World Cup leader Nicolien Sauerbreij of the Netherlands in the women's final for her second World Cup win of the season. Her first was a parallel slalom race at the season-opener in Landgraaf, Netherlands. Austria's Marion Kreiner took third Saturday after edging Germany's Isabella Laboeck.
Prommegger topped teammate Benjamin Karl in the men's final, securing his second straight win at Sudelfeld. Roland Haldi won the all-Swiss third-place race, crossing ahead of compatriot Nevin Galmarini.
Kober, who finished second at Sudelfeld last year, won on home snow in the only World Cup stop this season in Germany. The race was just 15 kilometers from the 22-year-old's home in Fischbachau. It is the ninth career win for the reigning World Cup champion and 2006 Olympic silver medalist.
The victory for Prommegger, 29, was his third-career World Cup victory and comes after three consecutive runner-up finishes at World Cup events.
Next up for PGS riders are the Vancouver Olympics, where they are the last snowboarders to compete (Feb. 26-27).
