Skeleton rider to make history in Vancouver
Ander Mirambell is set to become Spain's first-ever Olympic skeleton athlete when the Vancouver Games kick off later this month. Though his medal chances may be slim, the Barcelona native says he's happy just to have made the Games: "There's no pressure because all that I've done up to this point has been incredible. Now it's time to enjoy."
Dukurs slides to season title
With his fourth victory of the season, Martins Dukurs won his first overall World Cup crown. The Latvian edged Frank Rommel of Germany for the Igls World Cup victory while Alexander Tretiakov rounded out the podium in the last competition before the Vancouver Olympics. American Eric Bernotas was the top finisher for the U.S., placing 13th and 1.12 seconds behind Dukurs.
Hollingsworth wraps up World Cup title
Canada's Mellisa Hollingsworth finished third at the season-ending skeleton stop in Igls, Austria on Friday to clinch the second overall World Cup title of her career. Germany's Anja Huber won the gold medal ahead of compatriot Kerstin Szymkowiak, and Vancouver-bound Noelle Pikus-Pace was the top American finisher in fifth place.
Uhlaender eyes golden end to season
All season long, U.S. skeleton racer Katie Uhlaender has held a little bit back, making sure not to overextend her surgically rebuilt left kneecap. But with only one World Cup race remaining until the Olympics and her place on the Vancouver-bound roster secure, Uhlaender is planning to go all-out with hopes of reclaiming her customary spot on the medal stand.

The last time I checked in my recovery from shoulder surgery was spot on. My range of motion was good, my strength was returning, and it looked like my AC joint separation was just a bump in the road. Then the X Games rolled into town.

Whistler's calm before the Games
The last few days since my arrival have been lovely. There is the last-minute hustle and bustle that is to be expected, and everyone has been delightful and easy to work with. I now have my uniform and credential, and all is good.
