Kramer wants Olympics turned into Svencouver
Sven Kramer usually gets what he wants. After a rookie mistake cost him and the Netherlands victory in Torino in 2006, what the 23-year-old speed skater wants more than anything is to win an Olympic gold medal. He enters the Vancouver Games as an overwhelming favorite at 5000m and 10,000m and hopes to lead the Dutch to pursuit gold.
Previewing the U.S. team
Shani Davis and Chad Hedrick are the stars of the U.S. Olympic speed skating team, but who else should we keep an eye on? A recent episode of "Countdown to Vancouver" introduced viewers to a few more skaters on the squad who could contend for medals. Among them are youngsters Tucker Fredricks and Trevor Marsicano, and veteran Jennifer Rodriguez.
Davis won't skate all five events in Vancouver
U.S. speed skating star Shani Davis won't compete in all five individual races at the Vancouver Olympics. Davis backed out of the 10,000m before a Jan. 17 deadline for final entries to be submitted to the international skating federation. He would have been the first American since Eric Heiden to skate in five individual events. Jonathan Kuck will take Davis' place.

The rapid road to recovery
The last time I checked in my recovery from shoulder surgery was spot on. My range of motion was good, my strength was returning, and it looked like my AC joint separation was just a bump in the road. Then the X Games rolled into town.

It is finally here. Crazy how you work and prepare for an event for so
long and then all of a sudden it arrives. I am on my way to Vancouver

Whistler's calm before the Games
The last few days since my arrival have been lovely. There is the last-minute hustle and bustle that is to be expected, and everyone has been delightful and easy to work with. I now have my uniform and credential, and all is good.
