Coach: Liu's title defense may be impossible
Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang's chances of defending his world indoor title this weekend are almost impossible, one of his country's top coaches said on Wednesday. "He felt he should come," Feng Shuyong, technical leader of the Chinese World Championship team, said of Liu's first global meeting since an Achilles injury left him unable to start the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Williams out, Kimmons in for U.S. track team
The U.S. track & field team will be without the services of Ivory Williams, the fastest sprinter in the world this season, when the World Indoor Championships commence in Doha on Friday. Williams was disqualified from competing following a positive test for marijuana. He has been replaced by Trell Kimmons, the third-place finisher in the 60m at the USA Indoor Championships.
