Whitfield starts Olympic Torch relay
Olympic gold medalist Simon Whitfield of Canada lit the initial flame of the Olympic Torch with speed skater Catriona Le May Doan in front of the British Columbia Legislature after its arrival from Greece and ran the first leg of the relay through Victoria’s Inner Harbor.
O'Donnell wins Long Distance Worlds
American Tim O'Donnell weathered tough conditions and an array of European talent to win the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in Perth, Australia, while Jodie Swallow dominated the field to claim victory in the women's race.
